Spring training is over and the baseball season is in full swing! I'm not just referring to the MLB, but Heritage Makers Consultants started a baseball season of their own this April and the race to the pennant runs through August.
I love the name that we picked for our team - "Field of Dreamers." If you have seen the movie Field of Dreams, then you're familiar with the line, "Build it, and they will come." The same holds true for what we do as Heritage Makers consultants...if you believe in the mission and vision of building lasting legacies of family heritage and strengthening home and family through the power of story, then others will follow your lead. Families everywhere need this and my hope is someday soon we won't have tragedies like what happened in Virginia.
There's a excerpt from John Maxwell's book, "Developing the Leaders Around You," that I think you will enjoy.
If your team members believe in the goals of the team and begin to develop genuine trust in one another, they will be in a position to demonstrate true teamwork...For there to be teamwork, several things must happen. First, team members must genuinely believe that the value of the team's success is greater than the value of their own individual interests. Second, personal sacrifice must be encouraged and then rewarded - by the team leader and the other members of the team. As this happens, the people will identify themselves more and more with the team, and they will recognize that individualism wins trophies, but teamwork wins pennants.
GO TEAM! LET'S PLAY BALL!

"Maintain the right attitude"
"Maintain the right attitude when the going gets tough...what really matters is what happens in us, not to us!"
I've learned that wrong action directed at me is not as important as wrong reaction within me. Attitude is everything and I choose my attitude each and every day. I can't control others' reactions, but I can choose my reaction. What matters is that from every situation I recognize key learnings and work towards becoming a better person. God knows I'm not perfect and I don't pretend to be. In fact, I am very forthright about needing to work on alot of things about myself. I've never been afraid of change or difficult situations...that's how character is tested and strengthened.
This is definitely being published in one of my books! My goal is to model for my children a life filled with strong values and a heritage they can be proud of.

The Official Launch of My StoriesFromTheHeart.com Blog!
I had very good intentions of starting back in December when I first created this, but as you know, life with 2 littles ones, running a business and just life in general manages to cause the best of intentions to go astray.
I'm excited to start blogging because I believe it will not only provide some insight and useful info to those of you who were kind enough to subscribe to it, but I think it will also help me learn some new skills and hone some skills that I know I have, but haven't used in a while.
Thanks for reading and your feedback is greatly appreciated!
